This is one of a series of studies of the male nude concerned with re-configuring the male in art. Whereas the subject of the female nude has been the subject of feminist deconstruction, stereotypical images of the male in art have gone relatively unchallenged. The tradition of the female nude has been to do with male expression and ways of perceiving women. These paintings seek to depict intimate expressions of the male nude as seen from a female perspective. These figurative nude pictures seek to explore the notion of the male equivalent of the female 'muse'.
